Cohasset: The Cohasset/Norwell gymnastics team jumped into their season with a splash. Now teaming up with Notre Dame Academy athletes! Even with a few early injuries, seniors Elwell, Provenzano, and Killefer led the way, while standout beam and floor routines showed the team is ready to shine at upcoming meets in Somerset and Lakeville. - The Anchor
Kingston/Duxbury/Milton: Duxbury’s girls hockey team rang in the new year with a 3-1 win over Milton, capturing the fifth annual Tenney Cup—its first title since 2022. Addy Harrington led the way with a goal and an assist, while Ceci Tremante and Alannah Gallagher each scored, and Brooklyn Metzler earned the shutout. The Dragons executed their game plan perfectly, dominating both forecheck and neutral zone, and capped the win with Gallagher’s empty-net goal. - New England Hockey Journal
Marshfield: Dozens of daring locals dove into the icy Atlantic at Rexhame Beach on January 1 for the annual New Year’s polar plunge. Stay Curious This Winter: 2026 WaterWatch Lecture Series
Join NSRWA and Mass Audubon for the 2026 WaterWatch Lecture Series! This winter, explore local rivers, coastal habitats, and wildlife through engaging weekly presentations offered both in-person and via Zoom. Lectures run January 13 – March 4, with time for Q&A at the end of each session.

Tuesday, January 13 – Building the Resilience of Eelgrass Meadows: Live at The Raw Bar at Island Creek. Learn how eelgrass supports coastal ecosystems and survives human and climate pressures with Dr. Alyssa Novak. Includes oysters and light fare.
Wednesday, January 21 – South River: Past, Present & Future: Live at Mass Audubon North River Sanctuary. Explore the history of the South River, dam removal, and what lies ahead for this treasured watershed.

Winter Astronomy Night: Saturday, January 10, 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM – Plymouth: Bundle up for a magical evening under the stars at Davis–Douglas Farm with amateur astronomer Jim Kundzicz. Start indoors learning about the winter night sky, then head outside to see Jupiter at its brightest and closest of the year—plus its four Galilean moons—through binoculars.
