Scam Alert

Fake Court Notices Circulating Locally

Authorities across Massachusetts are warning residents about a new scam involving fake court notices that look official at first glance. These notices claim you owe fines for a traffic violation and urge immediate action—often directing you to scan a QR code to pay. Red flags include misspellings, generic names like “John Smith,” incorrect phone numbers, and missing case details. If you receive one, do not scan the code or share any personal information—delete it and verify directly with official court websites if needed.
