Cohasset: Cohasset voters have approved a key step toward a new $28 million public safety building at Cohasset Public Safety Building Project, with the final decision now heading to the ballot on May 9. Hull: A Hull-based nonprofit, Coastal Cat Rescue, has spent nearly 20 years rescuing cats and has already rehomed more than 100 in its first year as an official rescue. Led by founder Ellen Bloom Whitney, the foster-based group gives each animal care, socialization, and a path to a forever home. - Wicked Local
Quincy: A piece of Quincy history is getting a new life as the former Wollaston Theater site transforms into Wollaston Gardens, a seasonal beer garden opening this summer. Once a 1926 vaudeville stage and longtime neighborhood cinema, the site will now bring a social outdoor gathering space to Beale Street. - The Patriot Ledger

South Shore Spotlight
Record-Breaking 5K Supports Mental Health on the South Shore
Last month, Interfaith Social Services’ Stop the Stigma 5K returned to Quincy’s Squantum neighborhood with a powerful turnout and record-breaking impact. More than 950 runners and walkers took part, helping raise over $180,000 to support mental health counseling and addiction services through Interfaith’s New Directions Counseling Center. The annual event continues to grow as a community-driven effort to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and expand access to care for those who need it most.
From first-time participants to longtime supporters, the race once again brought together residents, families, and local businesses in a shared mission of hope, healing, and connection—making this year’s event the most successful yet.
