From Bob Dylan to “Boo!” — Halloween weekend happenings across the South Shore
Looks like we sent next week’s newsletter out a bit early — but consider it a treat: you’ve got a head start on your Thanksgiving planning! This week, we’re keeping things spooky (and local) with a mix of history, heart, and Halloween across the South Shore. In Braintree, the Festival of Trees is turning its holiday magic into $15,000 of community giving, while Marshfield celebrated a record-breaking $550K gala for Road to Responsibility. Plymouth is remembering the night Bob Dylan made local music history, and Rockland’s Halloween past still sends shivers down Main Street. From musicals and live music to costume parades and pup parties, there’s plenty of festive fun to enjoy this weekend — no tricks, just treats.
Headlines

The funds will help expand day services, residential supports and employment initiatives. - Wicked Local
Plymouth: Fifty years ago this week, Bob Dylan kicked off his iconic Rolling Thunder Revue with two surprise shows at Memorial Hall in Plymouth on Oct. 30–31, 1975 — a moment legendary in music history and still echoing through the town today. - Newsbreak
Rockland: For two decades, Rockland kids celebrated Halloween without trick-or-treating — after a 1970s safety scare led town leaders to replace door-to-door candy runs with ‘Operation Goblin’ parties instead. The tradition returned in 1994, but the story still gives small-town spooky vibes. - WCVB
